Over 200 families have benefited from our comprehensive program since 1992. Families in the IOH program live in small self-contained apartments located in Doraville, Georgia. Our goal is to empower families to take control of their lives and successfully return to the larger community through intensive counseling, life skills training, job preparation and job search, coaching, etc. The focus of the life skills training and coaching includes problem solving and decision-making, parenting, budgeting, and money management.

OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES
Since our formation by an interdenominational group of religious organizations in 1989, the principles of RESPECT have been a guiding force in our ministry to homeless families:

Respect
We believe all people have value and are worthy of respect: applicants, residents, staff, volunteers, donors, and funders.

Encourage
Healthy families need to be encouraged by providing services to make individual families stronger thereby strengthening the community as a whole.

Spiritual development
We will provide an atmosphere which will allow for the important spiritual development of the individual.

Personal development
Assuming personal responsibility, developing a sense of self-worth, and having a hopeful vision of the future are key components of personal development.

Excellence
We will model a standard of excellence in leadership by conducting the best-managed program possible.

Comprehensive
Individuals and families have complex issues needing comprehensive solutions and enough time to work through the issues.

Talents
We will recognize each person's unique talents, and seek to develop them by providing a nurturing, supportive environment.
