IOH provides small two-room apartments with a kitchenette and a bath to families who want to return to, and are capable of returning to, financial independence and self-sufficiency. Laundry facilities are available on site. Each family must meet certain criteria in order to be accepted into the IOH program.
The director of family services helps the families to: set goals appropriate for their needs and abilities; establish a career plan; obtain additional training; find and move into independent housing when they are ready; and require that their children attend school daily. IOH offers a wide array of services to support our families while they are in the process of recovering from homelessness. The average length of stay is ten months, however a family may stay in on site housing for up to two years. Services include:
